Senior Summer Picnic at Unity Township

July 15th at Noon at the Lakeside Pavilion at the Unity Township Municipal Building. The Unity Township Board of Supervisors invite area seniors 50 years or older to join them for a summer picnic. The cost is $5/per person. Tickets are available at the Unity Township Municipal Building. For more information, call 724-539-2546.

St. Bartholomew - Crabtree Festival

St. Bartholomew Parish, Crabtree, Pa. is having their annual Fireworks & Festival, July 14th thru 16th, grounds open at 5 PM, featuring a car/bike show and art show on Thursday, Friday is a 5K race also Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance and Saturday there will be Mass at 4 PM and their famous fireworks at 10:30 PM. On Sunday July 17th Bishop Edward Malesic will celebrate Mass at 10AM followed by a procession & battery Honoring Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Immediately after that will be a pasta dinner in Marian Hall, advance ticket sales only. For tickets and/or info call the rectory at 724-834-0709.

8th Annual Unity Township Hertiage Day Festival

Please come and join us for our 8th annual Heritage Day Festival on September 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We are planning a fun filled day for our residents with a petting zoo, clowns, pony rides, hay rides, a magician, and battle of the barrel that our local fire departments will take part in. Lowes will have a craft project for the children. Lions Club will have bingo for all residents. We will have craft vendors along with food vendors. In addition we have two band for entertainment which include Pa Express 12 to 3pm and Tricia Leigh from 4 to 7pm.

Whitney-Hostetter VFD Sub Sale/Boot Drive

September 2nd – Located at Lowes in Wildcat Commons, Kmart in the Mt. Laurel Plaza and the Whitney Post Office on Charles Houck road in whitney.

Whitney-Hostetter VFD Super Bingo

September 3rd – Super Bingo is at 2 pm at the Latrobe American Legion. Doors will open at 12:30pm. Stay tuned into their Facebook and web page for further details.

Pleasant Unity VFD Sportsmen’s Bash

September 17th – 5 to 9 pm at the Pleasant Unity VFD social hall. The Fall Sportsmen’s Bash will again be a 1,000 ticket event with ” All Browning” guns on the tickets which will be sold at $30 each. For additional information, contact gunbash@puvfd.org, call 724-423-6179 or see any member.

Winnie Palmer Fall Open House

Fall Open House, Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
While the Saint Vincent College community celebrates their homecoming weekend, WPNR is offering a chance for the community to do the same. Past program participants, work study students and visitors will get an opportunity to reminisce at exhibits highlighting long-running programs such as Tiny Wonder Time, Nature Story Time and Nature Book Club. New visitors can learn more about these programs as well as the newest program, Nature Play Day. Save-the-date cards will be available for seasonal events for Halloween, Winter Holidays and Valentine’s Day. WPNR staff will lead several hikes throughout the day, and several local organizations will be on hand for visitors to Ask a Beekeeper, Ask a Farmer and Ask an Archaeologist.

Winnie Palmer Nature Book Club

Nature Book Club, Thursday, Sept. 29, 6 to 8 p.m.
Nature Book Club is a literature hour for adults. Mingle with other book enthusiasts for a group discussion on seasonal books based on nature and the environment. Light refreshments are served. The fall session of Nature Book Club will discuss Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder. This event is free, but registration is required. In order to register, contact Jean H.
