Hello Unity!

LATROBE, PA – Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve at Saint Vincent College will host a Halloween-themed event on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The event, called Green Halloween, runs from 1 to 4 p.m. with station activities occurring from 1 to 3 p.m. throughout Reserve grounds. It will culminate with a “spooky” animal show presented by April Claus Interactive Environmental Programs from 3 to 4 p.m. which will highlight reptiles and amphibians that are native to Pennsylvania.

Celebrating the spirit of this spooky time of year, activities will include lessons on bats at the Lochry Blockhouse, encounters with slimy and scaly creatures at the Environmental Learning Barn and a witch and her cauldron at the newly renovated pond area where visitors may even encounter a mad scientist.

These fun, interactive activities will allow visitors to learn all about nature and the environment in the western Pennsylvania region. Children are encouraged to dress in costume for the event so that they can go trick-or-treating on the trails.

Activities for this event are designed for children ages 2-12 years-old. Registration ($15 per child) is required and can be completed at http://wpnr.org/event/green-halloween/.

Inquiries can be made by contacting the Environmental Learning Barn at 724-537-5284 or by emailing Allison Petris at Allison.petris@stvincent.edu.
