Employer's Local Services Tax
This tax is jointly assessed by the Unity Twp. Supervisors and the
Greater Latrobe School District at a rate of $10 per year. Five
dollars is assessed by the Greater Latrobe School District. Unity
Township may levy an amount of up to $47.00. For 2008, Unity Township
will levy a tax of five dollars. Thus, for the 2008 tax year the total
Local Services Tax will be ten dollars. This tax
replaces the ten dollar Occupation Privilege Tax levied prior to 2008.
All persons who are employed or self-employed within Unity Twp. are
liable for this tax. Employers are required to withhold this tax from
all employees regardless of their resident district. All employees who
are 18 years of age or over and have earnings of over $1,000 are liable for
this tax.
If the tax is withheld by your employer and you do not meet the above
rules, you may be entitled to a refund. If you hold more than one job
during the year, you must pay $10.00 tax per year. If a second
employer has withheld a second $10.00 tax, you are entitled to a refund.
