Mike O'Barto states "The Board of Supervisors of the 21st Century must have vision. We need to see beyond what we can actually see. We have to be more creative and we need to work harder than we ever have to preserve our Volunteer Fire Departments and our quality of life in Unity Township. Recreation for our youth and Senior Citizens must be improved upon. With our newly formed Recreation Board and the commitment of the people of Unity Township, great things will happen. Together we can make Unity Township a better place to live, work, and raise a family."
| Mike O'Barto was elected to the office of
Supervisor in 1994. Prior to being elected to the Board of
Supervisors, O'Barto served Unity Township as an elected Auditor.
O'Barto held that post for 8 years.
O'Barto is currently the President of the Westmoreland County Supervisors Association. He also serves on the Pennsylvania Supervisors Association as a member of municipalities with populations of 10,000 or more. The committee works with State Representatives and State Senators on local township issues. |
Mike serves on the Smart Growth Partnership
of Westmoreland County where he serves on the Board of Directors.
Mike is assigned to the Public Relations and Fundraising Standing
Committee. O'Barto has recently been appointed to the Southwestern Planning Commission. Mike O'Barto is also involved with many other groups, associations, and other activities in Unity Township. In addition, Mike O'Barto is a coach in the Unity Township Midget Football League. |
